Kōrero Āwhina

Sometimes you need a little help to stay in Te Reo Māori when you speak to others who are a bit more fluent than you. Don't be afraid to say you are still learning, but also don't be too quick to jump back into english when you are finding it a bit harder to understand what is being said. Below are some Kōrero Āwhina, helpful phrases to help you stay in Te Reo Māori while having a conversation.  We will also look at pātai that you can use to enquire about things during a conversation, which might also help to make your conversation more interesting. 

Some helpful phrases to stay in total immersion. 

 

Aha - what 

There are several different words such as 'aha' that allow you to form questions. In this Pātai Mai" series of REo 2 GO sheets , we will practice using the different questions in our conversations. 

Hea - where 

How to ask where something/someone is located, where something/someone belongs, where something/someone was located and where something/someone will be located in the future.  In this Pātai Mai" series of REo 2 GO sheets , we will practice using the different questions in our conversations.
