Kai & Kōrero


Kai time! Learn some Reo 2 GO phrases and vocab that you can use at the dinner table, in the kitchen, in the dining room , on the marae, at mahi, with your tamariki, mokopuna , hoa, whānau and friends! 

Kia kaha ki te kōrero! 

Each week commit yourself to using the Reo 2 Go phrases you choose at least three times per week. Challenge yourself to replace the english equivalent in your day. Download and print your Reo 2 Go contract here. 


Kai is a wonderful thing!! Kai is a great kaupapa to use to introduce Te Reo Māori into your day! When you are sitting down at the table to share a meal with your whānau you can use these Reo 2 Go phrases to call everyone to the dinner table, compliment the kai and to say when your puku is full! Read through the phrases and choose one or two that you will commit to using at least three times in the up coming week! 


Ko te kai ā te Rangatira, he kōrero! 

This Reo 2 Go session we introduce the pātai "He ____ māu?" / "Would you like a ______?" 

This is a simple phrase to use at the dinner table during meals. This week get out your dictionary and insert the different kai related kupu into this phrase! eg. He inu māu? Would you like a drink? Don't forget to use this phrase at least three times in the upcoming week! 

Mauri Ora! 

Learning some simple commands at the dinner table are a great way to increase your use of the reo at any given time. This week practice using HOMAI and HOATU. You might want to look up the māori words for different foods and utensils!! 

Kia Kaha! 

He tino pai tō mahi e hoa! Hopefully you are slowly increasing your use of Te Reo Māori over these last few weeks. Remember to be kind to yourself, it is hard work to introduce a languge into your every day life. By learning and using quick short phrases every day you are slowly but surely ensuring Te Reo Māori plays an integral part of your life. This week learn some more tono / commands. You already know HOMAI / HOATU. Now add the following tono and kupu hou / new vocab.
